Who We Are
Big Screen Battle LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Big Screen Battle mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and store information about you.

Age Requirement
Big Screen Battle is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, contact us at hello@bigscreenbattle.com and we will delete it promptly.

Information We Collect
A. Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name (username)
- Studio name (your in-app identity)
- Studio logo (an image you upload)
- Account creation date
- Sign-in method (email/password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In)
If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address directly from those providers.
B. Gameplay Data
We collect data generated by your use of the game, including:
- Your season-long box office predictions (predicted opening weekend gross, predicted total gross, and ranking for each of your 10 movies)
- Your weekly challenge predictions (gross estimates and ranked order)
- Points earned per prediction and total score
- League membership and head-to-head matchup results
- Global leaderboard opt-in status
C. Demographic Information OPTIONAL
During onboarding, we offer you the opportunity to voluntarily provide:
- Age range
- Gender
- US region
- How often you go to the movies
- Favorite film genres
- How you heard about Big Screen Battle
D. Technical & Device Data
We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the App, including:
- IP address — captured by Firebase on every server request
- Device identifiers — including your Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token, used to deliver push notifications
- App session data — including screens viewed, session duration, and crash reports, collected automatically by Firebase
- Device information — including operating system version and app version
This data is collected automatically as part of operating the App on Firebase infrastructure and is used for security, performance monitoring, and improving the App experience.
E. Payment Information
If you make a purchase within the App, payments are processed through one of the following:
- Apple In-App Purchase (IAP) — purchases made through the App Store are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple processes the transaction and provides us with a receipt confirming the purchase. Apple's handling of your payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — for any purchases made outside the App Store, payment transactions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. Stripe receives your payment information directly and handles it in accordance with their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance standards.
In both cases, we may retain records of transaction amounts, dates, and purchase types for accounting and legal purposes.

How We Use Firebase
Big Screen Battle is built entirely on Google Firebase. The following Firebase services process your data:

Your data is stored and processed on Google's infrastructure in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's Data Processing Terms.

How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Run the game (process predictions, calculate scores, generate league matchups and standings)
- Display your studio name and logo to other players on leaderboards and in leagues you join
- Send push notifications about game results, weekly challenge openings, and last-chance reminders
- Monitor app performance, diagnose crashes, and improve the App
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
Demographic and gameplay data may also be used for:
- Internal research to understand our player base and improve the game experience
- Building aggregate, anonymized statistics about player behavior and prediction trends — these statistics do not identify individual users
- Inferring general interest profiles based on gameplay behavior (e.g., genres of movies a user consistently predicts), which may inform future personalization or advertising features
- De-identified research shared with partners or used for personalized advertising in the future (see Section 6)

How We Share Your Information
Visible to Other Players
- Your display name (from your Google or Apple account, or set during sign-up) is visible to members of any league you join — you can update it at any time in Settings
- Your studio name and logo are visible to members of any league you join
- Your studio name, logo, and score are visible on the global leaderboard if you opt in — you can opt out at any time in Settings
Service Providers
We share data with the Firebase / Google infrastructure described in Section 4. Payment data is handled by Apple (via In-App Purchase) and Stripe, depending on the purchase method. These providers only process your data as necessary to provide their respective services and are contractually bound to protect it.
We use The Movie Database (TMDB) API for movie metadata and poster images. No personal data is shared with TMDB.
Aggregate & De-Identified Data
We may publish or share aggregate, anonymized statistics derived from gameplay — such as collective prediction accuracy or popular movie picks across all players. We may also share de-identified demographic and behavioral data with research partners or advertising partners in the future.
Future Advertising and Research Partnerships
We may in the future share data with advertising partners, sponsors, or research partners. If and when we do, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you before doing so.
We do not currently sell your personal information.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Big Screen Battle or its users.

Data Retention
We retain your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Demographic data you provide is retained for the life of your account and deleted along with it upon account deletion.
Technical and device data collected by Firebase is subject to Firebase's own data retention policies.

Your Choices
- Account deletion — email hello@bigscreenbattle.com to request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Correction of inaccurate data — email hello@bigscreenbattle.com to request correction of any inaccurate personal information we hold about you
- Display name — update your display name at any time in Settings; your updated name will be reflected to league members immediately
- Demographic data — optional at onboarding; skipping it has no effect on your ability to play
- Push notifications — manage individually in the App's Settings screen, or disable entirely in your device Settings
- Global leaderboard — opt in or out at any time in Settings; opting out removes you from public rankings immediately

California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and share
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions)
- Opt out of the sale of your personal information — we do not currently sell personal information
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Security
We use Firebase's built-in security infrastructure, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), Firebase Security Rules that restrict data access to authorized users, and pseudonymization of internal identifiers where applicable. Payment data is handled exclusively by Apple (via In-App Purchase) and Stripe, neither of which stores full card details on our servers. Both operate under PCI-DSS standards.
No method of data transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Movie Database (TMDB)
What We Use TMDB For
Big Screen Battle uses the TMDB API to display movie information within the App, including movie titles, directors, release dates, synopses, genre classifications, content ratings, production studio information, and movie poster images.
What We Do With TMDB Data
TMDB data is used solely to display movie information to players as part of the game experience. Movie metadata and poster images are fetched from TMDB's servers and cached locally on your device to improve performance. This cached data is stored temporarily and is not associated with your account or personal information.
What TMDB Receives
When the App fetches movie data from the TMDB API, your device makes a network request to TMDB's servers. We do not send any of your personal information — including your name, email, predictions, or scores — to TMDB. TMDB may collect standard server log data from these requests (such as IP address and request timestamp) in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Poster Images
Movie poster images displayed in the App are sourced from TMDB and are the property of their respective studios and rights holders. These images are used for informational and entertainment purposes in connection with the game.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
